Journey4 have been appointed to support Northern Trains with the development of its business plan for 2021/22.
Northern Trains were brought into public ownership in 2020 and the business plan is a requirement of the Department for Transport, (DfT) providing the case for funding levels and investment.
To be able to respond to the business plan requirements in the timescales required Northern Trains require additional capacity and capability, to assist them, and allow them to continue to deliver on their short-term operational priorities.
Our support will be focussed on business plan coordination across 7 workstreams, plan writing and reviewing, designing templates and visual aids, and providing strategic oversight to ensure alignment with the long-term strategies.
Jonathan Booth, Journey4 Director commented; “We are delighted to support Northern with its business plan, building on the strategy development work we have recently completed. We will ensure that the long-term strategies guide and inform the short-term business planning objectives”.
With Covid-19 restrictions in place we have mobilised our team to work smartly, from home, utilising remote working technology and collaborative online tools. The business plan timeline is 6 weeks from mobilisation to submission of the initial plan to the DfT, requiring us to work accurately and at pace.
